Lately, I’ve been trying to be more mindful of how and where I spend my money, and I’ve also been making a conscious effort to support Latinx entrepreneurs, creators, and business owners as often as possible. Latinx fashion designers and clothing brands aren’t something we often hear about, but they exist and they make very stylish and thoughtful clothing.
There was definitely a time when even the thought of buying clothes, shoes, and accessories from a Latinx store, let alone from Latinx designers, wasn’t something that would have crossed my mind, mostly because their representation was so limited. But now we know that sometimes, in order to support each other, we have to do a little digging and find these small businesses ourselves. And celebrities aren’t left out either, from Mariah Carey in Flor de Maria heels to Blue Ivy Carter with a leopard-print Ciriaco bag at the Super Bowl.
